In the heart of the old Darsena, the Metelino was one of the “quarters” home to warehouses and goods emporium.
Revamped in the early 2000s with Galata, Caffa and Tabarca, it was destined to become a cultural and tourist landmark.
The building has since been transformed to an exhibition space and will host the first edition of GenovaJeans, an event showcasing creative designs by Italian artists. The site will become the Contemporary Art Section of the International Jeans Museum, a symbolic place of the “return” of Genoa denim – a fabric that has revolutionised the world.
The annual MUJ will become a new creative event that will takeover the area of Pré, attracting tourists and fans from all over the world.
